Big Lottery Fund

The Big Lottery Fund supports the aspirations of people who want to make life better for their communities across the UK. They are responsible for giving out 40% of the money raised by the National Lottery for good causes and invest over £650 million a year in projects big and small in health, education, environment and charitable purposes.
The funding has provided the materials needed to build the community growing space including the necessary tools, greenhouses, sheds and plants.

Ashden Trust

The Ashden Trust is a grant-making charity established in 1989 and is one of the Sainsbury Family Charitable Trusts. They primarily support programmes focusing on climate change, sustainable development, or improving the quality of life in poorer communities. They fund projects under a number of different categories, we fit in under their Sustainable Regeneration umbrella.

Prince’s Countryside Fund

The Prince’s Countryside Fund is an organisation set up by Prince Charles in 2010 to give grants and deliver projects that support the people who care for, live and work in the countryside. They want to maintain a sustainable agricultural and rural community and secure a brighter future for the British countryside.

We had three target areas for the funding; the building and development of the community growing beds and Cornish stone wall; the delivery of educational workshops and start up of our employability programme.

Duchy of Cornwall

The generous providers of land! The Duchy of Cornwall has been instrumental in our progress providing us with not only a prime site but with time and guidance. We are proud to be a part of the impressive Nansledan development and will continue to work closely together on a number of interesting projects in and around Newquay including a wider food strategy for Cornwall.

Cornwall Community Foundation and Cornwall 100 Club

Cornwall Community Foundation is an organisation that is dedicated to improving the living conditions for all in Cornwall. They started as the Cornwall Independent Trust in 1999, with the aim to give those struggling in the community a voice and to establish independent source of funding of self-help within Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Newquay Community Orchard has benefited greatly from donations and advice from theCornwall 100 Club, and in spring this year, we were lucky enough to receive funding from them to get us started with the construction of Newquay Community Orchard’s wood workshop.

Ernest Cook Trust

The Ernest Cook Trust is one of the UK’s leading outdoor learning charities. Rooted in the conservation and management of the countryside, the Trust actively encourages children and young people to learn from the land through hands-on outdoor learning opportunities on its estates and by offering grants.

Tesco – Bags of Help

Tesco has teamed up with Groundwork to launch its Bags of Help initiative across England and Wales. The scheme will see three community groups and projects awarded grants of £12,000, £10,000 and £8,000 – all raised from the 5p bag charge. Bags of Help offers community groups and projects in each of Tesco’s 390 regions across the UK a share of revenue generated from the five pence charge levied on single-use carrier bags.
